Task force clamps down on illegal courier services in Abeokuta
The Enforcement team of Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department on Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has clamped down on some unlicensed and illegal Courier and Logistics Operators with number of them located in Omida, Panseke and Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
Penpushing reports that, the combined enforcement team which comprised of Inspectors from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCIID) Alagbon Lagos, policemen from Ibara Police station, stormed the identified illegal courier service offices
The team led by the Acting General Manger Ethics Complaints and Strategy), Mr Worimebgbe Banks disclosed that some of the clampdown courier service include: Fez Delivery Company for operating other than the approved licence category, Standard Express for illegal operation and Royal Mandarine, a bar center operating courier and logistics business without license amongst others.
Penpushing further reports that,he explained that the team was not out to shut down legitimate businesses but to sanitize the industry for a better atmosphere and create a level playing field for the would be investors to thrive.
The Acting General Manager, however, advised that those operating illegally should do the needful to escape the wrath of the law, as some of the operators pleaded and pledged to visit the General Post Office Sapon, Abeokuta to comply and commence the registration process as prescribed by the extant laws.
Penpushing also reports that, authority of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Abeokuta led by Mr Areo Gbenga after the clampdown operations appreciated the efforts of the team for coming to the town to carry out this long awaited clampdown operation, and stressed on the need for such exercise in Ogun State.
