Tai Solarin University shut over suspected cult clash

The management of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASUED), Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State has ordered immediate closure of the institution, following suspected cult clash which occurred within the host community in the town.

Penpushing reports that the Registrar of the University, Dapo Oke made this known in a statement issued on Sunday, pointing out that the closure became necessary as a result of the eruption of violence, before it get out of hands.

‘Following the recent clash between Students and members of the University Host Community in the early hours of today, particularly, the Imameje Community which led to the eruption of violence, the University Management hereby announces the closing down of the University’, Oke wrote.

Penpushing further reports that the management of the institution, equally called on parents and guardians to recall their wards back home immediately, adding that as at the time of filing this report efforts are bein made with the law enforcement agents to restore peace in the affected community

‘In the meantime, Parents and Guardians are hereby advised to recall their wards particularly those living in and around Imaweje back home immediately.  Efforts are being made with law enforcement agents to restore peace and order in the community affected’, Oke emphasised.

Penpushing also reports that the suspected cultists as at the time of filing this reports have allegedly set ablaze the palace of a traditional ruler in the community, as number of residents were running helter-skelter for safety of their lives
