Suspected bandits kill 29 security operatives in Niger State
Twenty-nine security officials who were members of a joint security patrol team compromising officials of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). have been shot dead by suspected bandits in Galkogo Forest, in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State
Penpushing reports that, source said, the security operatives engaged the bandits in heavy gunfire, adding that the bandits suffered heavy casualties, while as at the time of filing this report, the bodies of security operatives and volunteers killed during the encounter were immediately evacuated and conveyed to the Minna General Hospital.
The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Wadiu Abiodun when contacted on the latest incident,, declined comments, stating that it is a military issue, stressing that, “that issue is a pure military issue, I urge you to contact the military because they are the ones handling it,”.
Meanwhile, a day before the attack, unknown gunmen attacked two villages of Galkogo and Zumba, also in Shiroro local government, killing and injuring several people.
