SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS PRESCRIBE DEATH SENTENCE FOR THEMSELVES

The suspects were arrested few days after, and owned to the crime; during an interview said they would accept capital punishment for the offence they committed, adding that, they would seek for God’s favour before being executed, so that they can make heaven.

Penpushing recalled that, the duo admitting strangulating the victim before he died, said they earlier lured their victim to Ikangba area of Obalende in the town,and after robbing and killed him buried the corpse in a shallow grave in uncompleted building.

The Command in a related development has arrested four members of a kidnap gang who abducted son of the Chief Imam of Ode-Omi community and two others on Sunday August 11, which was a Sallah Day.

Penpushing further reports that, the Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama while parading the suspects said they were fished out from their hideout in the creek, where they were hibernating, after engaging them in gun battle, having planned to relocate to another place after the crime.

The Commissioner said, three abductees namely; Adamson Bamidele, Adam Jelili and Sanni Azeez were rescued by the police six days after, and have since re-unite with their families, adding that items recovered from the suspects include; two cut to size guns, four live cartridges, one cylinder, one boat engine and assorted charms.

The Police boss said, while the arrested suspects were being brought to the Command Headquarters by team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) between Abigi and Area J 4, along Ijebu-Ode-Sagamu Expressway, their (suspects) colleagues laid ambush and attacked the team with the view of freeing their arrested members

Penpushing also reports that, Makama said, the team of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) overpowered the gang, adding that at the end of the gun duel, two out of the arrested suspects and one of the attackers were fatally injured, as well as one pump action gun belonging to the attackers and three expended cartridges recovered

‘The Command hereby seize this opportunity to appeal to members of the public, especially hospitals to report anybody seen with gunshot injury to the police in their area’, the police commissioner appealed.
