STAKEHOLDERS CAUTION POLITICAL LEADERS ON FAKE PROMISES TO ELECTORATE
The communiqué explained that arising from the discuss on the platform, members also appreciated women as good managers and administrators, and pointed out that, members recalled that citizens often allow elected officers to take people for granted and hence the need to hold our leaders to account.
Penpushing further reports that other resolutions of the communiqué noted that, the list of Commissioners as presented to the State House of Assembly which contains two out of Eighteen (18) nominees is unfair to women and is about taking the state backwards by reserving the little portfolio for women
* Members stressed the need to make use of lobby and persuasion skills and techniques by the women groups to achieve increase inclusion of women in the Commissioners list and other appointable political offices.
*That there is need for caution from Governors and Political office holders about making Policy statements and verbal commitment in their public speeches without deep thought. The Platform appreciate that there is no position for which Ogun State cannot produce both competent men and women
*The youth groups are made up of the female as well as the male gender. The 35% or more does not preclude young people. Even if it’s a 25 year old woman, it serves double purpose. The request is to deliberately search out competent women in Ogun State.
*Since the Governor had committed himself to running an all-inclusive government, it is incumbent upon him to consider the current agitations of the different groups…..The Platform noted with regret the retrogression in the.37% to 45% and then back to 11% or so in the current list as presented to the House of Assembly by His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun
Penpushing also reports that the communiqué noted that the issue raised is not limited to women issue but an issue of justice and equity, and equally called on the women groups and other concerned on need to consider further negotiations,
