Speculations: Igboho arrested in Cotonou on way to Germany

There was a Monday night speculations on the arrest of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Igboho, in Cotonou, Benin Republic, as he was said to be on his way to Germany

Penpushing reports that, the unconfirmed report has it that a top familiar source was quoted saying that Igboho was arrested by the security forces in Benin Republic and billed to be repatriated to Nigeria on Sallah day

“He was arrested in Cotonou while he tried to travel out on Monday night. His destination was Germany. The security forces in Benin Republic should repatriate him to Nigeria on Tuesday,” the source said.

Penpushing further reports that, the controversial arrest came  about three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.

The  Department of Security Service(DSS), it is recalled  had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides and killed two of them in a gun duel.

Penpushing also reports that, the Nigerian Government  had placed the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service on alert to stop Igboho from leaving the country, and at a press conference the Department of Security Service(DSS) had vowed that “Igboho may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants…But this will be the end of his shenanigans.”

.The lead counsel of Igboho , a  Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yomi Aliyu  could could not be reach as at the time of filing this report, while the spokesman of Department of Security Service, Peter Afunanya,  was yet to make official statement on the development as at time of filing this report
