Soyinka is alive, says mentee
The death rumour of the Nobel Laurette, Prof Wole Soyinka which hit a section of the social media on Thursday has been debunked as fake news, which should be disregarded, and be seen as mischevious imagination of the authors
Penpushing reports that, a mentee of the literary icon, Abiodun Lasile who deflated the death rumour, affirmed that Soyinka is healthy and alive, adding that as at the time of filing this report, he is in Spain for official engagements.
The mentee, who is an author told Penpushing media that, he spoke with Soyinka when the rumour came, and can authoritatively tell the world that, the Nobel laureate is alive contrary to the fake news, adding that Soyinka burst into laughter when he heard of the rumour.
‘I can tell you authoritatively that, nothing is wrong with Prof Wole Soyinka. I just spoke with him, when you told me about the rumour. This is just one of the mischievous imagination of the authors of the rumour. As I am talking to you now, Prof Wole Soyinka is busy in Spain and nothing wrong with him’, Lasile stated
Penpushing further reports that, this will be second time such rumour will be on the social media, but Lasile in his own submission posited that, in Yorubaland if a person is rumored to have died, and still alive, it’s an indication of longentivity
The mentee said after his discussions with Soyinka on phone over the death rumour, he took time to shower prayers on him, and in response, the literary icon expressed appreciation with a resounding amen choruses.
