Son of late legend sakara musician relocates abroad following death threat
The son of the late Sakara musician, Yusuf Olatunji, popularly known as ‘Baba Legba’, Monsor Olawale Olatunji has relocated from Abeokuta, his hometown of Ogun State in Nigeria, abroad following death threat to his life and his immediate family.
Penpushing reports that following his sudden incommunicado, investigation conducted showed that the deceased musician son took to his heels, having realized that some alleged killers were after his family to wipe them out.
The findings also showed that Yusuf had earlier reported a case of death threat to the police station at Adigbe, Abeokuta, and in the course of investigation, the police in their interim report established that there was an attempt on his life either to kill, maimed or kidnapped him.
Penpushing further reports that the police statement of investigation with reference numbers:4099/OGS/ADG/VOL.2/77 and dated 30th November, 2022, said Yusuf on June 20, 2022 reported a case of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace/threaten violence
‘I referred to your letter dated 15th November 2022 and append herewith police investigation report as requested. This deal with a case of Conduct likely to cause a breach of peace/threaten violence reported on 20th day of June 2022 at about 0700hr by One Monsor Olawale Yusuf ‘m’ of Ifenikalo community, Olorunsogo, Oba Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria case incidental and referred for investigation’.
‘The brief fact of the case is that on the 19th day of June 2022 at about 2145hs One Monsor Olawale Yusuf ‘m’ of Ifenikalo community, Olorunsogo, Ojere, Abeokuta went to nearby store to buy a detergent (Soap) to wash his cloth, on his way coming back, he saw some group of boys number about four (4) brandishing cutlass and other dangerous weapon’.
‘When he did not clear of their identity and their mission, they pursued and entered the nearby bush to hide himself, and they ran after him, before the neighbor around rescued him, and sustained bruises in his body’.
‘While the police visited the scene of crime, after some days the victim Mr. Monsor Olawale Yusuf ‘m’ call on the investigating police officer when the hoodlum resurface to attack the said victim in the same community.
Penpushing also reports that the police explained that following investigation conducted facts emerged that some group of boys’ number unspecified were on rampage brandishing cutlass and other dangerous weapon.
‘In lieu of the investigation conducted so far the following fact wash emerged (I).That at about 2145hrs the complainant/victim Mr. Monsor Olawale Yusuf ‘m° left his house to the nearby store to buy daily needs. (ii).That some group of boys number unspecified were on rampage brandishing cutlass and other dangerous weapon.
*That Mr. Monsor Olawale Yusuf saw them from a far and ran after him but escaped to nearby bush for fear of being killed or kidnapped. That the suspected hoodlums sited him and those that are hiding came out of their enclave and pursuing him.
*That he Monsor Olawale Yusuf ‘m’ escaped through the fence of uncompleted structure around the place and ran for his dear life. That there is an attempt on his life either to kill, maimed or kidnapped him.
*That Mr. Monsor Olawale Yusuf has been receiving strange text messages and voice call of threat through hidden number prior to the day of incident and after it. That it took the effort of valor men in the community who rescue him before the arrival of the police officers.
*That there are signs of violence bruises all over his body when he was making attempt to escape from the hoodlums. Based on the facts the deduce above it is crystal clear that there was attempt to the life of Mr. Monsor Olawale Yusuf to kill maim or kidnapped him. Efforts are on, to bring the perpetrators to book through a robust patrol and intelligent gathering.
Penpushing reports that when contacted on phone from his abode where he relocated to, the victim, who is the coordinator of a Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) known as Yusuf Ajao Olatunji foundation, in honour of the late legendary musician confirmed the incident
The son lamented that the development has grossly affected the annual communal developmental programme the foundation is known for, in the last five years, expressing optimism that with his siblings back home things will take proper shape in continuity of the foundation
‘There have been attacks on my live which God have given me protection over, so for this reason and may one other need arise for me to seek refuge. I am in one country in Western part of the world and as for the attackers, I will not say anything present until the Nigerian Police concludes their investigations. May God help the police to unmask the evil masquerades’, he said
