Socio cultural group honours Anthony asiwaju, other notable yewa indigenes
A renowned Historian, Professor Anthony Asiwaju has been honoured alongside other notable indigenes of Imeko-Afon in Imeko-Afon in Imeko-Afon Local Government area of Ogun State for their contributions towards betterment of the community.
Penpushing reports that,the award night ceremony was organized by socio-cultural group known at ‘The Patriots’ held on May 28, which was the climax of the maiden anniversary of the organization.
The organization in a statement by, Comrade Gbolahan Ige(Chairman Planning Committee) and Comrade Moses Olabode Idowu (Secretary) explained that the awardees were singled out for their tremendous contributions and commitment to the ideals of the organization and the betterment of humanity at large.
Penpushing further reports that, other awardees include: Hon. Albert Asipa,(former Executive Chairman of the local government and President of Association of past local government Chairmen of Nigeria), Mr Femi Ogbonnikan, the Consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Media and Chief Olusola Oke, the incumbent Transition Chairman of the Local government and the Aare Ona-Kakanfo of Afonland among other awardees.
The awardees also comprises Dr. Isaac Koleola, Tpl Paul Ayoola, Alhaji Fatai Akorede, Chief Semiu Usman, Mrs Victoria Oni and Mrs Agnes Ajani. Mr Sunday Bankole, Comrade.Olutunde Aninkan and Comrade Abel Adekunle Babatunde.
The statement said The Patriots remains absolutely committed to engender the much needed renaissance in the community, stressing the reason the allegiance, “nothing shall ever discourage us” remains not only her motto but even the guiding principle.
Penpushing also reports that,the event which was hosted through virtual means has the presence of Oba B.A.O Olanite (The Onimeko of Imekoland and the traditional authority of the local government as the royal father of the day.
