Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan resumes, insists suspension is injustice

The Kogi State Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has finally resumed duties months after her suspension declaring that she owed no apologies to make to the assembly over what she called injustice meted out to her.

Penpushing reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan, arrived the assembly around 12:30 p.m. with a crowd of supporters waving Nigerian flags and headed straight to her office in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing and took her seat,

The security operatives at the main gate, however, barred her supporters from entering and later dispersed them with teargas, but her few aides were eventually allowed access into the building

Penpushing further reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan addressing journalists recalled that the document that led to her illegal suspension, which was read by Senator Neda Imasuen, originated from the office of the Senate President.

“I am actually worried as to what apology they expect from me. You cannot apologise for an injustice. The document that led to my illegal suspension, which was read by Senator Neda Imasuen, originated from the office of the Senate President. The signatures attached were merely attendance sheets, not endorsements. That makes the entire process fraudulent’, she emphasized.

Penpushing also reports that the National Assembly management as at time of filing this report had yet to issue a formal statement on whether she has been officially cleared to resume.
