Security operative shot dead by kidnappers after collecting ransom from family
A serving official of the State Security Service(SS) at the headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Sadiq Bindawa has been kidnapped by armed men, who killed him a day after, while in captivity.
Penpushing reports that the gunmen stormed the home of the security operative in Kastina town after he arrived from Abuja and whisked him away, and thereafter demanded N5 million ransom, which was given to them at an agreed point.
The family source said after receiving the ransom, the gunmen were ambushed by the security operatives who were monitoring them, and in the process a shootout occurred, which resulted in the death of many of the bandits.
Penpushing further reports that, some of the bandits managed to escape with bullet wounds and the money, and in retaliation went back to the den, where the abducted official of the State Security Service (SSS) was kept and killed him
‘However, after receiving the ransom, they were ambushed by security operatives who were monitoring them, and a shootout occurred. Following the firefight, many armed bandits were killed, others fled with bullet wounds and the money. Those that escaped went back to the den and shot dead Bindawa,” the source said.
Penpushing also reports that, the source said, the corpse of the security operatives was later found in the bush, but efforts to get reactions of the authorities as at the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.
