SECURITY AGENCIES SOLICIT PUBLIC SUPPORT TO FIGHT INSECURITY IN NIGERIA
The security agencies while encouraging Nigerians to shun ethnicity discrimination also pointed out that the political elites were responsible for electoral violence before, during and after elections in the country.
Penpushing further reports that, Director State Security Service, Ogun State Command, David Thompson in his submission said insecurity was increasing in the Nigeria system because there’s nobody who would report a crime incident to security operatives.
The Director who was represented by Yemi Awonuga also noted that tertiary Institutions were the root of criminal activities, and urged parents and guardians to take care of their children, stressing that insecurity could only be resolved when Nigerians collaborate with security agencies.
Penpushing also reports that an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS), A,T Ogunmakin in his address explained that the issue of insecurity was not limited to Nigeria, pointing out that there were over 1407 illegal roads leading to border areas.
The Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS official appealed for support from the public, urging Nigerians to have trust in the security agencies, while on his part, the erstwhile Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ade Abolurin explained that the government had tried by providing necessary mechanism for security agencies.
Penpushing reports that, Abolurin represented by Assistant Commandant of the corps, Ajayi Philip cautioned Nigerians to stop the blame game, urging the public to support government policies on security, submitting that insecurity would be resolved in Nigeria only when the public support security agencies.
The National Secretary, Committee for Defence of Human Rights,(CDHR) Comrade Yinka Folarin in his speech stated that insecurity was a big challenge in the country, just as he urged the publics to cooperate with security agencies, saying it will generate peace in the country if that is done.
Hear him ” To go serve and our father’s land is now a problem. Young people in Nigeria are being killed as a result of serving their father’s land and unfortunately no compensation but consolation. Human rights is not recognised in Nigeria even security men harassed us”.
