Penpushing further reports that earlier in his opening remarks, the initiator of Sarafa Isola for Governor of Ogun State, Chief Joju Fadairo disclosed that he travelled to United Kingdom, while Isola was then the Nigerian High Commissioner to encourage him to return home and contest the 2027 poll.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) added at the stakeholders meeting that the race for the governorship started about two years ago, after a welcome reception was held for Isola on return from United Kingdom

Penpushing also reports that Fadairo explained that the move gave birth to the eleven groups, with members showing interest to be involved, adding that the groups have equally resolved to merge to fight a common course in the interest of the aspirant

‘Let me disclosed to this gathering that I visited the Ambassador in United Kingdom to appeal to him to come and contest for the governorship race. I called him to contest based on his track records. This move was later became a reality when a welcome reception was held for him’, he stated.

‘The journey started two years ago with eleven groups clamouring for Isola to join the governorship race and today the groups have resolved to merge and be under one umbrella for the purpose of Sarafa governorship race’, Fadaro said.

Penpushing reports that he said he was impressed and overwhelmed with the turnout of party members, adding that Isola has always been a lucky man, adding that having convinced him to contest, he(Fadairo) embarked on consultations with stakeholders across the state

‘We are here to endorse Sarafa as next Governor of Ogun State in 2027. He did well as SSG, Minister and Ambassador. He would continue to do well. Sarafa will make a difference when he becomes the Governor ‘, Fadairo emphasized

Penpushing further reports that Isola in response explained that the gathering was a meeting and not political campaign, boasting that at the right time his declaration will be massive and hold at open field

‘Today is gathering for meeting and not campaign. My declaration is going to be massive and in open field not inside a room, a serious aspirant won’t make declaration in corner of a room’, he said.

‘Chief Fadairo has paved way for my governorship ambition having intensified efforts on consultations across the state. I am original and bonafide indigene of Ogun State and don’t need to trace my roots by force’, Isola added.

‘A genuine aspirant should not be too desperate, any aspirant with such traits, needs to be checked. The reception did in my honour on return from London further open my eyes for governorship race. I am a bridge builder who is much interested in positive growth of state’

‘My concern is to address hostile succession in Ogun. I should be the most appreciative politician, having served as Chairman of Chairmen of Local Government, Special Assistant to Minister, Minister and Ambassador’.

‘I am happy that we are now awake politically to put me in front as aspirant. My father was a member of Action Group. I am well connected globally which I will use to the advantage of the state. All groups should be merged and be under one umbrella to be known as Sarafa Support Group (SSG)’, he stressed I appreciate your solidarity. As we move on let us harmonise all local government. We should articulate our programmes. We are here to harmonise . I want to also call on you to let us jointly endorse President Bola Tinubu for second term, following his good performances’

Penpushing also reports that used the occasion in calling on party members to endorse President Bola Tinubu for second term, a call that was widely accepted by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

Meanwhile, in a related development, a motion for the endorsement of Isola to be the party governorship flagbearer was moved by Prince Adesegun Ogungbayi (Ogun West Senatorial District  Leader)  and seconded by  Olalekan Adebanjo(former chairman Ijebu-Ode Local Government) from Ogun East Senatorial District
