RUNAWAY ROBBERY KINGPIN SHOT DEAD AT IN-LAW’S HOME ON XMAS DAY
The ring leader,however, managed to escaped and thereafter,temporarily relocated to Delta State, while two of his gang members were apprehended. Speaking to Penpushing on the update, Public Relations Officer,Ogun State Police Command,Abimbola Oyeyemi said the killing of the bandits leader took place at his in-law home.
He said the robbery kingpin has been on the wanted list and the command has been on his trail since then. ‘The escaped member of armed robbery gang who shot and injured the former DPO ogbere Mr Adeyinka Akingbade has been shot dead during an encounter with police operatives at Ijebu ife in the 25th of December 2017’,he said.
Oyeyemi added that,the suspect who escaped arrest and fled to Delta state met his waterloo on Christmas day when police operatives received an information that he was sighted in a beer parlour at Itawade area of Ijebu ife.
‘Upon the information, the policemen swiftly moved to the place, but before getting there, he has left the place. He was however traced to his in law house where the police operatives caught up with him’,he stated.
The command spokesman said,having realized that the game is up, he(suspect) brought out a pistol and started firing at the policemen.
He said the operatives were left with no other alternative than to fire back consequence upon which he was shot dead.
‘Recovered from him are a locally made pistol, a matchet, assorted charms and a Toyota Highlander with two different registration numbers’.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed iliyasu has commended the resilience of his men in making sure that the last member of the gang was finally brought down.
Oyeyemi declared that the command has therefore noted that this is a warning signal to any would be criminal that no crime committed in Ogun State will go undetected.
