Remo Stars Player’s Death: Governor Abiodun orders full scale investigation
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday ordered full scale transparent and independent investigation into the alleged police killing of the Assistant Captain of Remo Stars Football , Tiamiyu Kazeem, popularly called ‘Kaka’ which occurred on Saturday.
Penpushing reports that, the Governor in a statement while expressing shock at the details of the tragic ordeal assured that a proper, transparent and independent investigation would be immediately launched into the incident in order to unravel the exact circumstances of the occurrence and bring persons found guilty to book.
The Governor urged players and supporters of Remo Stars Football Club, residents of Sagamu and indeed the Ogun State people to remain calm, following the tragic passing of the rising football star, eulogizing the deceased as a young man with great potentials for the development of the State and the nation in general.
Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun strongly stated that his Government will never take with levity, the lives and property of the good people of Ogun State, stressing that the first business of Government was security and welfare of the citizens of the State.
The Governor added that the case of ‘Kaka’ would not be an exception, and promised that the footballer’s unfortunate case would not be swept under the carpet, just as he however, called on everyone to maintain peace and calm during the investigation and be confident that anyone found culpable would be brought to book according to laid down laws.
Penpushing recalled that, the footballer, was allegedly arrested by the officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS),Ogun State Command for alleged offence of wearing military apparel, and while been taking to from Sagamu to Abeokuta, he was reported to have been crushed by a vehicle on the road, in a controversial circumstance.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson ,following the ugly development, hasd earlier ordered the immediate arrest of the officer allegedly involved in the death for his unprofessional act of leaving an arrested person alone in the vehicle.
