Protest in Abeokuta as truck kills commercial motorcyclist

The commercial motorcyclists popularly called Okada riders on Friday embarked on protest which spread to some major parts of Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital following alleged killing of one of their colleagues by a truck driver.
Penpushing reports that, the trailer driver was reported to have crushed the motorcyclist identified as Saheed at Totoro area of the town, a development which led to spontaneous reactions from many commercial motorcyclists, who pursued the driver alleged making efforts to run away with the vehicle from the scene.
The death of the motorcyclist said to have just returned from Ayetoro his hometown according to eyewitness was carrying a passenger who also sustained fracture on the leg, adding that as at the time of filing this report was receiving treatment in hospital
Penpushing further reports that, following the reported crush the deceased colleagues gave the truck driver hot chase and subsequently stopped him in front of the Press center at Oke-Ilewo area of the town and smashed the vehicle windscreen, but the driver managed to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, the police efforts in responding to the protest which was almost turning violence prevented the escalation of the protest bt aggrieved motorcyclists, while many motorists wre seen making quick detour in the troubled spots
