Prominent industrialist Ogo Oluwa Bankole is dead

A renowned industrialist and business man who is the Chairman of Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, Olootu Ogo Oluwa Bankole has been reported dead on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that the management of the Mercyland International Schools made this known in a terse statement, adding that all activities in the school for the week have been cancelled, but kept mute on cause of death

‘It is with profound sadness that Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta announces the passing away of our Chairman, Olootu A G O Bankole today Tuesday 18th February, 2025. Please note that there will be no school tomorrow Wednesday 19th February, 2025. All our activities for this week are hereby cancelled as we mourn the death of our chairman’, the statement read.

Penpushing further reports that former Governor Ibikunle Amosun has, however, issued a condolence message expressing sadness over the sudden demise of the business man, who was his kinsman from Owu Kingdom of Egbaland.

‘Olootu Bankole, who died today, Tuesday, 18 February, 2025 at the age of 77 years, will be remembered for making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Ogun State and Nigeria’, Amosun wrote.

Penpushing also reports that Amosun who expressed his deep sadness and shock over the passing of Bankole in a statement praised his remarkable achievements, particularly the establishment of Premier Paints PLC, the first indigenous paints company to be listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE).

The former Governor pointed out that the deceased exceptional leadership skills, hard work, dedication, and selflessness, played a crucial role in the success of Premier Paints PLC over the past 40 years.

‘Olootu Bankole’s commitment to education was also notable, as evidenced by his establishment of Mercyland International School in Abeokuta. Through this institution, he helped shape the minds of future generations and instilled values that would make them responsible members of society’, he said.

“As an illustrious son of Owuland and a respected community leader, Bankole’s passion and dedication to the progress of Owuland, Ibogunland, Egbaland, and Gbagura will be deeply missed’, the statement added

Penpushing reports that Amosun prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give his family the strength to bear his irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, the late Bankole who is a notable member of Abeokuta Sports Club, was said to be at the club three days ago, and seen to be lively , however, his sudden death shocked members of the club, as they could not believe when the news filtered
