Polytechnic Ibadan matriculates 5,700 students

The Polytechnic, Ibadan on Thursday matriculated 5,700 students for the 2020/2021 academic session, warning the new  students to shunn act of cultism and other social vices that could tarnished image of the institution.

Penpushing reports that the Rector of the Institution, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi while speaking during the virtual matriculation held at the Assembly Hall of the institution noted that 7,260 candidates applied for National Diploma (ND), out of which 2,553 candidates were admitted, adding that 3,147 were also admitted out of 4,771 candidates that applied for the Higher National Diploma (HND) in the institution.

The Rector pointed out that the institution was one of the foremost and most preferred tertiary institution in Nigeria by many applicants seeking for admission into Polytechnics and Colleges of technology.

Penpushing further reports that Adebiyi stated that it was unlawful for any students to engage in any cult related activities warning that involvement in cultism may lead to rustication from the institution, urging the new students to imbibe the best academic culture for them to succeed in their chosen career.

“Cultism not only destroys but also kills, keep away from unregistered association that will not only tarnished your image and that of your family, but also destroyed your academic and future”,he adivised

“This institution possessed unique image earned by hard work and dedication by discipline staff and students, we shall not compromised it, the institution certificates are earned through rigorous academic exercise and sound moral attitude”, Adebiyi added

Penpushing also reports that, the Rector, however, admonished the students to laid solid foundation upon which their careers will be built, saying that their today would determined tommorow.

The Principal officers of the institution in attendance at the event include the Deputy Rector of the institution, Mrs Abiodun Olubamiwa, the Registrar, Mrs Modupe Fawale, Bursar, Mr Olawole Ojetola, Chief Liberian, Doctor Samuel Ajala, and Director of Works and Services, Engineer Steven Ipadeola among others.
