Police Service Commission promotes Toyin Afolaogun to Deputy Commissioner alongside others

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of some senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to various higher ranks following rigorous written examinations and oral interviews, which include Assistant Commissioner of Police Toyin Afolaogun promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police

Penpushing reports that Head, Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu made this known in a statement, recalling that the examination was concluded on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the commission Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, presided over by the Chairman, Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu(rtd).

The statement added that that those promoted include: Assistant Inspector General Mohammed Usman Gumel, promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, who was until his promotion, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Community Policing Project (CPP) Department, Research and Planning, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Penpushing further reports that the commission equally elevated seven Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police which include Commissioner of Police Ihebom Chukwuma, Commissioner of Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuj and Commissioner of Police Maxwell Olatokunbo.

The others are Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi, Commissioner of Police Delta State; Commissioner of Police Alonyenu Francis Idu, Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State; and Commissioner of Police Lawal Ayodeji.

Penpushing also reports the list include Commissioner of Police Ahtu Fiorce Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex Lagos; Commissioner of Police Agene Emmanuel, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Kaduna; Commissioner of Police Vungmoh Kwaimo, and Commissioner of Police Railway.

The statement added that 13) Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police and include Deputy Commissioner of Police Babalola Ayodeji Johnson, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage,Port Authority, Lagos; and Deputy Commissioner of Police Cyril Uche Obiozo, Cross River Command.

Penpushing reports that others are Deputy Commissioner of Police Adepegba Adetoye, Edo Command; Deputy Commissioner of Police Tabitha Bako, Anti Human Trafficking, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID); and Deputy Commissioner of Police Ofem Ikpi Arikpo,Bayelsa Command.

The statement added that they include Deputy Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbeghagha Ops Zone 17 Akure; Deputy Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso, Operations Borno State Command; and Deputy Commissioner of Police Samuel Yerima Gimba, Benue State;

Penpushing further reports equally promoted are Deputy Commissioner of Police Alhaji Mohammed Danladi, Taraba: Deputy Commissioner of Police Richard Bala Gara, Nasarawa; Deputy Commissioner of Police Lasisi Adekunle Titilola,Lagos; and Deputy Commissioner of Police John Obiuagbaka, Staff College Joshua.

The list also contained 30 Assistant Commissioners of Police promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police Muhammad Nuhu Diggi, Dala Kano; Udu Moses Ogechi, Commander 59 PMF Gombe; and Assistant Commissioner of Police Toyin Afolaogun Commander 16 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Abeokuta

Penpushing also reports that others are Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdullahi Dahiru, Hassan S. Aliyu, Alex O. Ebbah,  Ajasa Hakeem, Adedeji Adefolarin, Agboola Abiodun, Onaghise Shelley Osayande, and Titus Ayodeji,Garba Fakai Umar.

The statement added that 51 Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, including: Davidson Okechukwu Ndubueze, Muktari Bello, Delta state Command; Obediah Okezie.

Penpushing reports that the commission in same vein elevated 542) Superintendents of Police to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, including: Ekere Anthony Elijah Kwada, Lucas Yoha Ologede Babatunde, Lucky Chukwusa, Okunoye Akindele and Adeyemi Lateef.

The others are Umeh Helen Nkechi; Philip Gloria; Ibrahim Lawan Rano, Pauline Okafor,Chris Onubogu, Ojimenlu Andrew Yakubu, Bilkisu Shuaibu, Gimbia Audu; Ibironke Latifa Aremu; and Hassan Muhammad Misau.

Penpushing further reports that 119 Deputy Superintendent of Police were promoted to Superintendent of Police which include Ahmed Abdulmumuni, Simon Michael, Utuh Edward, Shehu Salisu, Chukwu Otuu Chukwu, Ani Kingsley, Yakubu Dung, Shehu Salisu, Smart Osadolor, Yusuf Francis Moses, and Abraham Sule Ogufa, while 12 Assistant Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police.

The Chairman of the Commission, congratulated the newly promoted officers and tasked them to brace up to their new responsibilities with greater commitment to the service of the nation.

Penpushing also reports that Argungu emphasized that promotion comes with higher expectations and urged beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to effective policing, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order.

Meanwhile, the Commission boss reiterated the commission’s resolve to ensure regular, merit-based promotions in line with best practices.
