TERMITES CONSUMED MY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE, SAYS NEWLY SWORN IN CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA

The top jurist said, in the affidavit submitted to the Senate last week to be confirmed as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), “no portion of the certificate was salvaged,”, while it is recalled that the said affidavit has been circulating on social media since Monday night.

Penpushing further reports the new Chief Justice swore the affidavit on February 13, 2002, while he was a judge at the Jos Division of the Court of Appeal, and later became a Supreme Court judge in 2007, while he was later nominated by President Muhammad.

The Chief Justice who spent his early years on the bench as a Sharia court judge, thereafter faced allegations of age falsification, which said he criminally altered his date of birth by three years from December 31, 1950, to December 31, 1953.

Penpushing also reports that Muhammad, however, denied the allegations, while a Federal Judge later ruled on May 31 that the complainant had no rights to file the lawsuit, stating that there was no evidence to back the claim.

The Judge equally scolded the Abuja based lawyer, who was the complaint, stating that,  the case was filed  to ridicule Muhammad’s public image, while a N10 million fine was also imposed on the lawyer for instituting a frivolous case in contravention of extant rules of the judiciary.

Penpushing reports that, following the ruling in favour of Muhammad, he was on July 17 confirmed by the Senate, and subsequently sworn in on Wednesday by President Muhammad  Buhari as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, at a ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
