Police begin proactive measures against banditry in Ogun state

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced combing of communities to fish out suspected bandits who might have or planning to turn such communities to hide outs to carry out crimes, which include kidnapping among others.

Penpushing reports, that one of the communities under patrol is Akinale located in Ewekoro local government area of the state, to rid off the criminals suspected to be planning to relocated to bushes in the area and turn to their abode.

The Area Commander of the Police, Commander Musiliu Aliu had on two occasions led his team to the community and embarked on through search and combing of the bushes in the community to flush out suspected criminals.

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that, the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye had sometime ago raised alarm to the police, informing the authorities that, strange faces are being noticed in the community.

The journalist turned monarch in the same vein, had confronted some herdsmen who were suddenly seen in the community, and enlightened them to steer clear from the land, in view of the incessant reported cases of banditry across the country.

Penpushing also reports that, on two occasions, the police team stormed the community unannounced and went straight into all nooks and crannies of the community snuffing for the suspects, without harassing genuine residents and indigenes

The Police Area Commander and his team after the exercise took time to check on the traditional ruler of the community and had tete-a-tete with him in his palace, and the monarch commended them for the proactive measure

Penpushing reports that, Towulade Akinale, in his remarks expressed appreciation to the police for deeming it to carry out the operations, which he described as proactive measures, adding that, ‘here in Akinale, we are security conscious and maintain regimented vigilantes as compliment to the government security apparatus”.
