Police assault electricity worker over disconnection of barracks owing N112 million
Mobile Police Officers in Makurdi have allegedly attacked staff of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) over disconnection of barracks owing N112 million.
Penpushing reports that Head of Corporate Services, of the company Adakole Elijah, made this known in a statement lamenting that the police officers stormed the company’s office and assaulted a security guard.
“The police officers stormed the office in a commando style and descended on the security guard on duty, Mr Hassan Adamu. The security guard was beaten to stupor and had his head broken,” he said.
Penpushing further reports that Elijah said the management of the company would write a protest letter to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the state regarding the incident.
The statement declared that the company resolved that the mobile barracks would remain disconnected until the outstanding debt is settled, and expressed serious concern over the attack on its staff and has vowed to take further action to protect its employees
