Police arrest two highway robbers
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, Ayomide Joseph (19) and Olajide Ajisomo (20) for allegedly robbing two brothers at gun point in Ikugbonmire junction Mowe axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Tuesday ,adding that the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Mowe Police Station by one of the victims. Adegoke Sodipe.
The police spokesman said the victim reported that while he was coming from Lagos with his brother, they were attacked at Ikugbonmire junction Mowe by three armed robbery suspects and were dispossessed of their personal belongings which include: Infinix phone valued at N25,000, UBA ATM card, and So-Safe Corps identity card.
Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi said, the victim stated further that they(victims) raised alarm which attracted passerby and one of the hoodlums was apprehended by members of public,adding that upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Division SP Marvis Jayeola quickly dispatched his detectives to the scene where the arrested member of the gang was handed over to the police.
‘Having taken possession of the suspect, the operatives embarked on intelligent based investigation which led to the arrest of the second suspect. A locally made double barrel shot gun was recovered from them’, Oyeyemi added.
The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered that the suspects be transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation, and equally reiterated the readiness of the command to clamp down on any would be criminal within the State.
Meanwhile, Ebrimson assured that the command will not allow any hoodlum to subject the people of the state to any form of mental and psychological torture during and after this trying period.
