Peoples Democratic Party head office set ablaze in Gombe state

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Gombe State Chapter Headquarters  located at the government house road opposite the presidential lodge has been set ablaze by yet-to-be-identified arsonists as at the time of filing this report

Penpushing reports that, the building is said to be owned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate of the state, Muhammad Barde., while the state is said to be under the rule of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

The source said the building which has been a subject of controversy between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was set ablaze on Monday

Penpushing further reports that, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had in September, accused the ruling administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of demolishing a part of the campaign office.

The Gombe state government, in response dismissed the allegation, stating that the Governorship candidate of the opposition party was trying to politicise what was strictly an urban planning matter, clailming that the matter preceded the election of Barde as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate.

Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are yet to react to the ugly development.

The Gombe State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mahid Mu’azu, confirmed the incident with assurance that the perpetrators would be arrested and made to face the law, adding that the command has already directed a discreet investigation into the incident.

Penpushing reports that, he added that the command will ensure hitch-free electioneering campaigns by all the political parties assuring that adequate security cover will be accorded to the parties in line with the provisions of the relevant laws of the country.

The police spokesman enjoined politicians to watch the actions of their supporters to ensure peaceful electioneering, warning that the command will not condone any act that will breach the relative peace in the state.
