Penpushing member, Toun Okewale- Sonaiya appointed board chair St. Ives Communications Limited

A frontline member of Penpushing platform Toun Okewale Sonaiya, has been appointed by St. Ives Communications Limited, owners of Women Radio WFM as Chair of the Board, as well as Aramide Ayodeji Alakija-Ajeh as Chief Executive Officer of the radio station.

Penpushing reports that a statement by Communications Manager, Emmanuel Olonade explained that the appointment of Okewale-Sonaiya who is Co-Founder of the establishment has been acknowledged by the board of directors.

The statement added that the Voice of Woman Empowerment Foundation equally acknowledged her outstanding leadership, visionary approach, and over a decade of unwavering dedication to the organization

‘Since the station’s launch in 2015, she has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and transformation, positioning Women Radio as a leading, credible, and trusted voice for women and communities across Nigeria and beyond’, the statement read.

‘Her commitment to advancing gender equity, amplifying women’s voices, and promoting inclusive dialogue has significantly shaped the station’s identity and impact, Olonade wrote

Penpushing further reports that the statement stated that in her new role as Board Chair, Okewal-Sonaiya will provide strategic oversight and governance leadership to guide the organisation’s long-term vision, sustainability and expansion.

‘Her deep industry knowledge, strong stakeholder relationships and passion for women’s empowerment will continue to strengthen the institution’s influence within the media and development sectors’, the statement added.

Penpushing also reports that Olonade added that the board expressed confidence that Okewa-Sonaiya will continue to lead the Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation (VOWEF), driving synergy between the Foundation and Women Radio WFM 91.7 in advancing advocacy and social impact initiatives.

The statement added that in similar vein, the board announced the appointment of Aramide Ayodeji Alakija-Ajeh as Chief Executive Officer of Women Radio, effective immediately.

Penpushing reports that the statement said Alakija-Ajeh will brings extensive expertise in strategic leadership, organisational development, with a proven track record of driving growth, strengthening institutional systems, and delivering operational excellence.

The board is confident that her leadership will ensure continuity, reinforce institutional stability, and accelerate the station’s progress as it expands its reach and deepens its impact in the media landscape nationally and internationally.
