Penpushing member, Sarafa Isola to receive officer of the order of Federal Republic award
The Nigeria Ambassador to United Kingdom, and renowned member of Penpushing platform, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola has been identified to be honour with the rank of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), as approved by President Muhammad Buhari
Penpushing reports that, to this effect, a letter with reference number SDIGA/001/T/90, dated September 19, 2022 and signed by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume has been forwarded to the recipient
The letter indicated that, the ceremony is scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC), in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 9.00am, and asked to forward his citation ahead of the day
‘I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the conferment of the National Honours on you, in the rank of OFR. Officer of the order of the Federal Republic’, the letter reads
‘The investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022 at 9.00am. All award recipients are required to forward a one page citation and current passport’, Akume wrote
Penpushing further reports that the recipient, a frontline member of Penpushing platform was born into the family of Chief Ibrahim Isola Tairu and Hajiya Amudalat Ajiun Isola of Abeokuta. He graduated from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, England in 1981.
The profile added that, he attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, United States of America (USA), and the University of Ilorin, while he also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Penpushing also reports that, Sarafa started his working career as a Lecturer in Marketing, Statistics and Economics at the Federal College of Education, Katsina in 1983, while in 1997, he was elected the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, at the fourth attempt, and was subsequently elected the Chairman of the Conference of Local Government Chairmen in Ogun State. He later became the Coordinator of South-west Local Government Chairmen.
The profile added that in 1999, Sarafa was the Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, and in 2002, Ambassador Isola was invited by the United States of America (USA) Department of State on a study tour of the American financial systems through the International Visitors Programme.
Penpushing reports that, the tour took him to the Department of State, Capitol Hill, Federal Reserve Bank – New York, New Jersey, University of Texas, Commodity Exchange – Chicago, Bank of America – Arizona, Silicon Valley/San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
The recipient was in 2003, appointed the Secretary to Ogun State Government, and in 2007 appointed Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Federal Republic of Nigeria, while in 2021, was appointed the High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.
Penpushing further reports that, he recently became the Chairman of the Accreditation Committee of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth, while he has equally represented Nigeria in bilateral and multilateral engagements in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Malta, Czech Republic, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Togo, South Africa, Algeria, Tunisia, Rwanda, Mali, Gambia, Burkina Faso, and Cote d’ Ivoir
