Penpushing Media has mourned demise of the first civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who was described as instrumental to the establishment of formal structures for the betterment of journalism profession.

The management of the organization in a condolence message signed by the Chairman, Editorial Board, Funke Fadugba, pointed out that the deceased was a media guru who ensured that Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) among others benefitted from his unparalleled administration in Lagos State.

‘Alhaji Lateef Jakande was instrumental to the establishment of formal structures for the betterment of journalism practice. A media guru  who professionally led by example ensuring that the Nigerian Union of Journalists,  Nigerian Institute of Journalism among others benefitted from his unparalleled administration in Lagos State’, Fadugba wrote.

Penpushing further reports that, the statement pointed out the late veteran journalist was a lover of the masses and administrator per excellence, who abrogated the shift system in education in Lagos State.

‘Alhaji Jakande a lover of the masses and administrator per excellence abrogated the shift system in education in Lagos state. A man who personified service to humanity, revolutionise housing in Lagos for the benefit of the downtrodden’.

The media establishment emphasized that Jakande’s footprints on the positive side of history of good governance transversed to transportation, commerce and the civil service system in Lagos, stressing that, he who could best be described as the father of modern Lagos.
