Patient’s relative assaults personnel of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, management condemns attack

The Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu has frowned at attack on one its staff by a relative of a patient, declaring that the authorities maintain a zero-tolerance stance towards violence against its personnel within the facility.

Penpushing reports that Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Oluwabunmi Fatungase in a statement emphasized that any individual or group found culpable in such acts will be promptly apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu strongly condemns in the strongest possible terms any form of assault on medical and healthcare personnel within our facility. OOUTH maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards violence against its staff”, the statement reads.

“We wish to unequivocally state that any individual or group found culpable in such acts will be promptly apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law”, Fatungase wrote.

Penpushing further reports that the Medical Director pointed out that the safety, dignity, and well-being of the healthcare workers remain a top priority, for the management, in view of the fact that  they are committed daily to saving lives and providing quality care to all, just as she disclosed that the affected staff member is currently receiving appropriate medical attention and support from the hospital management.

“We call on patients, relatives, and the general public to cooperate with healthcare workers and uphold mutual respect at all times. Acts of violence only serve to undermine the delivery of essential healthcare services and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. OOUTH remains committed to maintaining a safe and conducive environment for both patients and staff”, Fatungase stated
