Pastor allegedly commits suicide after lover rejected marriage proposal
A 30-year-old Anambra State cleric, Pastor Prosper Igboke, has reportedly committed suicide after jumping from a two-storey building, a development said to be the fallout of rejection by his lover, whom he had trained at a university.
Penpushing reports that the clergyman who hailed from Leru, a community in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, took his life in Nnewi, a community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state, where he was serving as a pastor.
The source from the family explained that the deceased had made a marriage proposal to his unidentified lover, but she declined, adding that in reaction to the lover’s rejection he jumped down from a two-storey building and died instantly
‘He jumped down from a two-storey building and died. I am surprised that a man of this age and a pastor can do this. He was eventually buried on Friday in a bush’, the family member disclosed
Penpushing further reports that the family member explained that the pastor was thereafter buried in a forest for committing sacrilege according to the tradition of the community.
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, when contacted said the incident was yet to be reported to the police in the state, but promised to inform the police personnel around the community for necessary action.
