Passengers burnt to death in Lagos auto accident

A commercial on Sunday bus went up in flames at Iyana-Oworo, inward Third Mainland bridge area of Lagos, resulting in the death of seven passengers, while five of them narrowly escaped.

Penpushing reports that, Permanent Secretary Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) Olufemi Osanyintolu-Oke, confirmed this, adding that investigation showed that the crash occurred due to recklessness and overspeeding by the driver.

The Permanent Secretary in the statement made available said the impact of the crash resulted in fire with 12 passengers trapped and burnt, adding the burnt victims include: four female, two male adults and one male child

“Unfortunately seven victims were burnt to death (four female, two male adults and one male child) in the bus. All the remains have been bagged by the Agency’s LRT Paramedics, LASAMBUS officials and handed over to SEHMU”, he explained

Penpushing further reports that Osanyintolu-Oke, disclosed that those who managed to survive include the driver, one male and three female adults who have been rushed to Gbagada General Hospital while the male adult was attended to at the scene.

The Permanent Secretary in the statement said as at the time of filing this report, arrangements have been made by officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency to evacuate the burnt vehicle from the road.
