Parents outshine students at school inter-house sports, appear in coordinated aso-ebi
The parents of pupils of Sunshine Schools, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday outshine the pupils who were celebrants of the college inter-house sports competition, as they (Parents) appeared in coordinated aso ebi and parading like a cultural festival.
Penpushing reports that at the event tagged “Sunshine Schools Olympics 2026’, the parents turned the event into a colourful spectacle, with aso ebi in different colours, which include yellow, blue and white.
The appearance as contained in videos circulating online include other traditional styles, believe to be representing their respective houses, as they marched and danced in organised groups.
Penpushing further reports that,the emergence of coordinated aso ebi among parents suggests a growing social dimension to the events, while it was unclear whether the trend will spread to other schools.
The inter-house sports in Nigerian schools, typically focus on students competing in track and field events while parents watch from the sidelines, wearing casual or everyday clothes, however, the Sunshine Schools event has already triggered conversations about the evolving nature of school social activities in Nigeria.
