Oyo state police arrest suspect linked with pregnant university of Ibadan student’s death

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with last Friday’s murder of 29-year-old pregnant Azeezat Shomuyiwa in Ijefun, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Penpushing reports that the victim who was carrying a seven months pregnancy, was found dead in her home after unknown assailants smashed her head with a stone.
The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the arrest of the suspect when asked for an update on the twin killings of Shomuyiwa and Barakat Bello.
Penpushing further reports that, Fadeyi said the suspect is presently in the police custody assisting in investigation into Azeezat’s killing,and in similar vein vein while responding to question about another victim, Barakat’s killing, said that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
“We are working to make sure that those others in connection with the incident are arrested and prosecuted accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department is still on the case. The suspect is for Azeezat’s case. Efforts are on regarding the other case,” Fadeyi said.
Penpushing also reports and recalled that,19-year-old Barakat had been raped and killed by yet-to-be- identified persons in her home last Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, and has since being buried according to Islamic rites.
