Oyo State Hospitals Management Board harps on effective monitoring system in health sector

The Chairman, Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, has harped on the need for efficient and effective monitoring system in health sector, saying that the act will afford the general public to get the needed health care at appropriate time.
Penpushing reports that Adetunji, stated this while inspecting the health facilities at St. Peter’s Hospital, Aremo, Oni and Sons Hospital, Ring – Road and Jericho Specialist Hospital, in Ibadan, the State Capital.
The board chairman emphasized the need for concerned authorities in various facilities in the state to ensure that both the medical personnel and non – medical personnel under their watch work as a team, noting that the act will make people of the state enjoy Governor Makinde’s qualitative health care services.
Penpushing further reports that, Adetunji , who expressed delight on dedication to duty by personnel in the hospitals, said that efforts were ongoing towards building on the existing structures to make the facilities more productive.
“The facility tour became imperative for the board to find out the problems or perhaps challenges in each facility, also to respond to such hollistically,towards improving health care services in the state.”
“We are going to see how to increase the hours the hospitals have access to power supply, probably twenty four hours in a day to avert the delay of test results from laboratories through alternative power supply.”
‘Also, the renovation of structures and supply of necessary equipment to make health workers more efficient and professional in discharge of duties are the priority of this administration”,he said
“Part of our mandate as board of health sector, included the upgrading of nine tertiary health care facilities in the state to autonomous institutions that would be self sufficient, self sustaining self accounting, as well as training centres for resident doctors , specialist nurses amongst others.”
“Another area of our focus is the upgrading of general hospitals to semi – autonomous institutions, man power development and empowerment , all these will further make health care services accessible , affordable and qualitative ”
Penpushing also reports that in their separate remarks, the Chief Consultants, St. Peter’s Hospital, Dr. Olanlege Sakirat, Oni and Sons Memorial Children’s Hospital, Dr. Cambella Ibijoke and Dr. Ilori Helen of Jericho specialist hospitals, appreciated the leadership of the hospitals management board for prompt responses at point of need, with a call that all hands must be on deck for the state to remain a force to reckon with in health care delivery.
‘We appreciate your visit and hope it will bring positive things here, we attend to all cadres of children from Oke – Ogun Axis , Lagos State and Osun State because of our standard . We would be glad to be on a full fledged operation with the support from the board as this will enable us to further deliver and by extension generate income for the state’.
The entourage of the chairman during the facility tour included , the Permanent Secretary , Hospitals Management Board , Dr. Olusoji Adeyanju, Director, Medical Services , (HMB ), Dr. Olufemi Adesanya , Director of Nursing Services , Mrs . Nasiru Risikat , Personal Assistant to the chairman,. Mr. Rabiu Adekunle among others.
Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that the team had earlier visited Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital , Iyemetu and Ring Road Specialist Hospital , Ibadan for same purpose .
