The commission pointed out that the omission of the logo was a grossly mistake on the  part of the electoral body, despite efforts put in place by the commission in ensuring free, fair, and credible poll.

“An information just reaching me now which is not palatable, I was notified that ZLP logo is missing on the ballot box, and we take full responsibility for the mistakes, it was not intentional, ZLP is contesting in just one local government out of the 33 local governments in the state which is Ido local government. It will be wrong if logo of a party is missing in the box and we still continue the election, that is why we decided to suspend the election in the local government.”

Penpushing further reports that Olagunju however reiterated the commission’s commitment toward free, fair and credible election, adding that the body will be unbiased in discharging of its duty.

The Chairman of the Commission in an update over the announced suspension said onSaturday evening that the election has been rescheduled to Sunday and that the poll will be held between the hours of  8am to 3pm on Sunday.

“We have contacted the supplier of the ballot paper and he has assured us that the new ballot paper that carries ZLP logo and others will be supplied today(Saturday), so we have adjourned the suspended election to till tomorrow(Sunday) starting from 8am – 3pm.”

Penpushing also reports that Olagunju maintained that there would also be restriction of movement within the local government during the reschedule poll, and however apologized to people of the local government and supporters of all political parties participating in the election for the inconveniences.
