OYO POLICE RECOVERS N50MILLION NESTLE PRODUCTS HIJACKED BY HOODLUMS

The Commissioner added that sequel to the information, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) Operatives swung into action and in the process, the hijacked and diverted trailer was later recovered at Akinyele Area along Ibadan/Oyo Expressway with another Registration number ENU 728 XE being affixed to the vehicle, noting that effort is now being intensified to arrest the perpetrators of the criminal act.

Penpushing further reports that in the same vein, the Command has said that its men have arrested some hoodlums who have been terrorizing members of the public within Ibadan metropolis and other parts of Oyo State.

 “On 10th January, 2020 at about 2200hrs, some hoodlums with dangerous weapons invaded the premises of one CCECC BEAM NIG LTD, the railway construction company located at SANUSI area, Ibadan, broke and entered into the company iron rods store and other equipment, while robbers loaded One Hundred and Twenty Three (123) pieces of 16MM Iron Rods into a VOLVO Truck with registration number LSD 813 XV which they were use to convey the stolen Iron rods’,Olukolu said.

The Police boss explained that while the hoodlums were leaving the scene of crime, information was received by the Divisional Police Officer in Omi-Adio aided by a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) operatives who were on routine anti-crime patrol in the area and in the process, nine of the hoodlums who later identified themselves as; Popoola Rafiu ‘m’, Caleb Adewumi ‘m’, Taiwo Seyi ‘m’, Ajidara Okikiola ‘m’, Ayorinde Shola ‘m’, Olayinka Olanrewaju ‘m’, Issa Salaudeen ‘m’, Afolayan Lukman ‘m’ and one Bello Olamide ‘m’ who is an employee of the company were arrested in connection with the crime.

“One VOLVO Truck loaded with the looted One Hundred and Twenty Three pieces of 16mm Iron Rods was recovered from the hoodlums. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and the last suspect; one Bello Olamide ‘m’ who an employee of the company is confessed to have masterminded the criminal activity in connivance with other suspects, he equally confessed to have masterminded series of such criminal activities in the same company.”

Penpushing reports that Olukolu pointed out that the Command under his watch will not been resting on its oars stressing that security architecture have been renewed and rejigged and all officers and men have been charged to re-double their efforts to be able to sustain the 2019 tempo, so that crimes and criminality can continue to be reduced to the barest minimum in the state.

“We have continued to put concerted efforts in place as reflected in the activities of the Police Tactical teams (SARS, AKS, STS, Federal Highway Patrol, SAFER Highway, Skynet squad & Puff Adder team etc)”,he said

The Commissioner stressed further that the Command’s efforts have been seriously boosted with the donation of the Sixty-six Kia Rio Cars by the State government for patrol by the Swift Response Squad (SRS) of the Oyo State Police Command coupled with the installation of the critical state of the art communication gadgets for ease of communication to enable patrol teams respond promptly to distress calls.

“The strategy is also enhanced by aggressive Stop and Search operations, intelligence-led raids of criminal hideouts, increased routine and foot patrols, all these have not been left out in our quest to make sure that criminal elements have no place to hibernate in Oyo State.”

The police boss, however, assured the good people of Oyo State of the preparedness of the Police to continue to carry out their constitutional responsibilities as enshrined in Section 4 of the Police Acts and Regulations which charge the Police with the responsibility to protect life and property, prevent and detect crime, apprehend offenders, preserve law and order, & to carry out due enforcement of all laws and regulations etc .

Penpushing reports that, Olukolu therefore enjoined the citizen and residents of the State to continue to partner with the Police, collaborate and support them with very useful and timely information to enable the to serve them better.
