Kidnappers seize ransom bearers, make fresh demands
The abductors of ward chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have seized two individuals who reportedly took N5 million and food items to them as ransom in a bid to secure his release.
Penpushing reports that it is recalled that the party leader Nelson Adepoyigi, was abducted, reportedly beaten and dragged away on Monday evening at the entrance of his farm along the Ifon-Owo road by his abductors.
The kidnappers had earlier reduced their initial demand from N100 million to N5 million alongside food supplies, but on arrival of the door step of the abductors the duo who took the ransom there were subsequently seized.
Penpushing further reports that the abductors on seizure of the duo, are now making a fresh demand of N30 million to secure the release of all three captives, a development said to have thrown the family of the abductees into fresh panic.
‘Those who took the ransom to them, as agreed during negotiations, were held by the same kidnappers. They have now turned around to demand a fresh N30 million before they can release all three of them’, a resident said
Penpushing also reports that the Chairman of Ose Local Government Area, Kolapo Oja, had earlier confirmed the negotiated agreement of N5 million and food items and expressed concern at the turn of events.
The Chairman, however, appealed for calm while security agencies made efforts to secure their release, while the situation grows more tense, and expectation of family members, political leaders, and the local government authorities is for the safe return and the release of all the captives.
Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report the Ondo State Police Command said its working with other security agencies to secure the victims
