Oyo, Osun states to terminate joint ownership of ladoke Akintola University

The Oyo State Government has disclosed that, the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho with Osun State Government may soon be terminated.
Penpushing reports that, Commissioner for Education Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye made the revelation, while receiving delegations from Samuel Ladoke Akintola Foundation in his office, saying that the dissolution process will be completed very soon
The Commissioner explained that Oyo State government is currently in consultation with its Osun State counterpart over the plan, noting that the state government is much more interested in providing a solid educational background and make life easy for indigenes and residents
Penpushing further reports that, Olaleye, however called on leadership of Ladoke Akintola Foundation to do more in sensitizing the public about the contributions of the late Ladoke Akintola to the Nation.
The Commissioner commended the leadership of Ladoke Akintola Foundation for their efforts in projecting the image of the late premier of the western Region, lamenting that it was unfortunate that,Ladoke Akintola did not live long ,
“It is unfortunate that Ladoke Akintola did not live long to defend himself, his children and supporters were also young when he died so it was difficult for them to defend all the lies against Akintola but since you have taken up the task, you have to do it well, Although people are knowing the truth now but don’t relent’ dig out more facts about him , his achievements and his style of politics spread it, let the younger generation be properly informed’
Penpushing reports that the commissioner pointed out that, disclosed the institution has been enmeshed in financial crisis due lack of commitment from the owner states
The coordinator of the foundation, Mr Yemi Adedokun while reacting said that the entire members of the family and Ladoke Akintola Foundation appreciated the effort of the government on education especially on the university which was named after the late Premier
Penpushing also reports that, Adedokun noted that part of the effort to project Akintola’s name is organizing public lecturers in Ibadan, Ogbomoso and Lagos as well as conversion of part of his building in Ogbomoso country home into a library for public use
“Already we have packed over 5000 books found in the house into a place and by the time we completed the library we will open it for public use’, he stated, and used the occasion in presenting books and face masks to the state government on behalf of the family to support the government in the fight against coronavirus
Meanwhile, it is recalled that representatives of the two owner states and Nigerian University Commission (NUC) met at the Senate building of the institution in Ogbomoso last month for asset evaluation and modalities of sharing and other things
