OYO ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS FAULTS GOVERNOR MAKINDE’S N8BILLION CONTRACT AWARD FOR IWO ROAD/ INTERCHANGE RECONSCRUCTION
The Governor, it is recalled, when he joined the Muslim faithful to observe the Jumah service at the Adogba Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan on Friday, disclosed that not less than N8 billion would be spent to reconstruct the popular Iwo Road interchange, in Ibadan, saying that the project would be completed between nine and eleven months.
Penpushing further reports that, the opposition party, however raised six questions for the Governor to answered in respect of the proposed 8N billion contact,: Did N8billion meant for Lagos- Ibadan Express road?. Did Iwo road interchange alone cost N8Billion when we all aware it is federal road and it is captured in Ife – Ibadan road contract by federal government?. We all heard the warning by federal government to all states in the country not award/fund any federal road with the hope of getting refunded, why did GSM want to recoup his money as fast as possible with this kind of dubious contract?.
The All Progress Congress(APC) asked further; why making Iwo road his priority when Ibadan- Iseyin road is in total mess and not motorable any longer knowing this is only road where farmers transport their goods to the capital?, lastly is this inflation of contract or padding of contract? Tax payers money is not meant to get popularity rather to touch the lives of citizenry and deploy where it is necessary.
