OYO ACTION DEMOCRATIC PARTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE, ALAO-AKALA DEFECTS TO ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS

It is recalled that, Alao-Akala, a former Governor of Oyo State defected from his then party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to join All Progressives Congress (APC), but when he failed to secure the party Governorship ticket, he left to join the Action Democratic Party (ADP)

Penpushing reports from political circle that, his sudden exit from the party will undoubtedly leave the ongoing opposition alliance plans weaker since he had been the leader of the talks, while on the other hand, it would boost confidence in Adebayo Adelabu’s camp in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, sources said, it is now left to how Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Sharafadeen Alli of Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) and Senator Femi Lanlehin of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), will carry on with the aliiance talks.

Penpushing also reports that, of  notable opposition leader and chieftain of the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) in the State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, is also a part of the alliance, and  if it succeeds, it would make the March 9 Governorship election a battle mainly between the All Progressives Congress(APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

It is also recalled that, before the latest development, the former police chieftain and Ogbomosho-born politician had vowed that all opposition parties would do anything to end to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

Penpushing further reports, that, Alao-Akala’s return confirms an earlier report that he may eventually see an alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as more profitable, considering a similar scenario that played out during the Osun State Governorship re-run election last year when Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) made a last minute switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the middle of talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
