Owu club warns committee against selecting highest bidder as next Olowu
The Country Club, Owu Abeokuta has cautioned the next ruling house and kingmakers to produce new traditional ruler of Owu Kingdom, to guide against selecting highest bidder for the royal stool, as the race for the position hots up.
Penpushing reports that, the club gave the caution note in a letter sent to the committee signed by Chief Oketokun Nurudeen (President) and Chief Adeshina Akinpelu( Secretary) respectively, calling for a transparent selection process
‘As we all know that the race for succession to the throne has begun, while many prospective candidates from the next ruling lineage to ascend the vacant stool of their forefathers are already showing interest’, the club noted
‘We also want to reiterate the need for the committee to carry out the selection process in a transparent manner and not give the crown to the highest bidder at the expense of other competent and qualified candidates’, the letter emphasised.
Penpushing further reports that, the club members said it will be to their delight and going by what is in the vogue, the world over, that the kingdom this time around should be given a young, vibrant and dynamic young man, who would make use of youthful energy in collaboration with the elderly ones to develop the Owu.
‘We wish to inform the committee of chiefs in charge of the selection process, the need to elect the most popular, competent and qualified candidate as the next Olowu of Owu,. The candidate should be one with a very good track records, who could unite the entire kingdom, and bring about the much desired developmental programmes, tranquility to the four corners of Owu and Egbaland as a whole’.
Penpushing also reports that, the club pointed out that, at this critical point, what Owu sons and daughters want is someone that can drive the developmental agenda of the land and bring about the message of hope of the entire sundry.
‘It is our prayer that the good Lord guide and lead the committee through as you commence the selection process Thank you for your usual cooperation and wishing you a hitch free selection’, the letter reads
