Osun, Lagos states receive coronavirus vaccines
The Osun and Lagos State Governments have received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines from the federal government.
Penpushing reports that, Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Osun State, Funke Egbemode, confirmed the receipt of the vaccines, while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also confirmed receipt by the Lagos State Government
The Osun State Commissioner made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo stating the state government delegation received the vaccines at Akure Airport around 7:11 p.m., assuring that the government was prepared to preserve and administer the vaccines.
Penpushing further reports that, Egbemode disclosed that the state government had trained 300 health workers for the vaccination, adding that government had installed storage facilities (cold chain) across the 332 wards in the State.
The commissioner gave assurance to the residents that the government would soon commence the vaccination, in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Penpushing also reports that, Egbemode advised citizens to shun the misinformation about the vaccines, stressing that the vaccines had been scientifically tested and certified fit for human use by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The Information Commissioner emphasised that in spite of the administration of the vaccines, citizens should continue to observe all coronavirus protocols laid down by the government.
Penpushing further reports Governor Sanwo_Olu who confirmed the receipt while speaking at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation said the vaccines were kept in a safe place, but was silence on the number of doses the state received.
The governor gave assurance that the government would soon commence the vaccination in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Penpushing reports that, he implored residents to continue to adhere to the coronavirus protocols which include wearing of face mask, washing of hands and observing social distance.
