Osoba is trying to whip up sentiments to cover criminal allegations against him, says Kashamu

The chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State Chapter, Senator Buruji Kashamu has responded to allegation by another party leader, Comrade Niyi Osoba that he (Kashamu) was trying to use his influence and wealth to cause him jail term, saying Osoba’s claim was inconsequential.

Penpushing reports that, Kashamu in a statement by his media aide, Austin Oniyokor said, Osoba’s claim was a method to appeal for public sentiments, after his two days in police custody, following his inability to meet bail condition given him by the court after his arraignment for threat to life, felony and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The party moneybag stated that he is known not to be a violence person, explaining that, that was why Osoba was reported to the police, stressing that, all his epistle is nothing but a vain appeal  to sentiments.

‘The epistle is no more than an argumentum ad passiones (an appeal to sentiments or emotions) after his two days remand in Police custody following his inability to meet the very liberal bail terms given to him and his attack dog, Lukman Ejalonibu, by a Magistrate’s Court in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State’,.

‘Since the matter relating to threats to my life, felony and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace is already in court, I will not dwell on it, as it will be subjudice to do so. However, the truth is constant; nothing can change it..

Penpushing further reports that, Kashamu while buttressing his reasons for dragging Osoba to court explained, ‘we cited a few examples of his acts which pointed to the fact that he lacks the “integrity and pedigree” that he always seeks to flaunt’.

‘The first example was how he shortchanged Ladi Labinjo of N540,000 out of the N1,500,000 that Omoilu Foundation issued to help the less-privileged in a healthcare initiative. At the time, Osoba was the State Coordinator of the foundation between 2015 and 2017’.

‘We also referred to his headship of the Egbe Bobagunte Okunrin Asiwaju, Akile Ijebu. Instead of addressing the issues, Osoba and his attack dogs resorted to abuses, name-calling and threats’, Oniyikor said.

‘Some of his mercenaries started calling to threaten me with hidden numbers. As a law-abiding citizen who is conscious of my rights under the law, I briefed my lawyer who accordingly wrote a petition to the Police. Osoba and Ejalonibu were invited, their statements obtained and charged to court on Wednesday under the relevant laws’.

‘As expected, they were granted bail. But, they were unable to meet the bail conditions. That was why they were remanded in Police custody for two days until Friday when they were released after meeting their bail conditions’, Kashamu explained.
