Ooni of Ife becomes Baba Ibeji, as palace commences traditional rites to welcome babies

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has joined the league of Baba Ibeji, as his Olori, Tobiloba Ogunwusi in the early hours of Saturday delivered a set of twins, whose identities are male and a female said to be in good health conditions.

Penpushing reports that following the news, the palace has commenced traditional rites being conducted by the Ife chief priest known as Isoros, ahead formal arrival of the babies and their mother into the palace, as number of residents trooped to the palace to congratulate the monarch.

The Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace., Otunba Moses Olafare confirmed the cheering news when contacted by the Penpushing Media, adding that the palace has since become a beehive of well wishing activities

‘A great news broke out at the Ile Oodua Palace of the Ooni of Ife early hours of this morning sequel to a safe delivery of a twin set of babies; Prince and princess with mother; Her Majesty, Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi and babies in good health conditions’, Olafare wrote.

Penpushing further reports that Olafare explained that the build up spiritual rites to welcome the babies was in conformity with the traditional customs and culture of the Ife Kingdom which is the ancestral home of the Yoruba and several other races around the world

‘While the palace has since become a beehive of well-wishing activities and visits from far and near in felicitations with the Ife Royal Family, other necessary spiritual rites as a buildup to the formal arrival of the new royal babies to the palace expected to happen very soon have begun as being handled by the Ife Chief Priests otherwise known as The Isoros in conformity with the traditional customs and culture of the Ife Kingdom which is the ancestral home of the Yoruba and several other races around the world’, he added.
