One killed, several injured as masquerade followers, muslim worshippers clash in Osogbo
The fight which broke out between followers of a masquerade and muslim worshippers in Oluode Aranyin’s compound, Osogbo, the Osun State Capital has resulted in the death of a person and several others seriously injured.
Penpushing reports that, bloody clash occurred when the masquerade and his followers were said to be passing through the area, while the muslims were said to be having their prayers inside the mosque.
The cause of the fracas could not be ascertain as at the time of filing this report, while it was also learnt that about nine persons which include some underage children were reportedly injured following alleged gun shot during the fracas.
Penpushing further reports that, Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola on Monday confirmed the incident and death of one person during the clash as well as many injured
The police spokesperson said the cause of the fight could not be ascertained as at the time of this report, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has, however, invited the two fighting groups for a dialogue.
Penpushing also reports that, Opalola disclosed that some arrest has been made in connection to the incident adding that investigation was also ongoing on the development.
