Ogun state workers elect new labour union leaders

The Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), Ogun State Chapter on Tuesday elected new executiv members led by Comrade Hammed Benco Ademola to pilot affairs of the Congress for the next four years.
Penpushing reports that the election was held at secretariat of the Labour Congress located along Moshood Abiola Way in Abeokuta, with participation of delegates from all affiliated unions and adequately monitored by security agents and journalists among other relevant stakeholders.
The elected chairman from Nigeria Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE), emerged unopposed after his rival who was the incumbent chairman, Emmanuel Bankole withdrew from the race.
Penpushing further reports that other elected officers include Comrade Bidemi Alafia Tayo who recorded 474 votes to defeat his opponents Median Nanle and Emmanuel Bello who polled 353 and 166 votes respectively to emerged the Vice Chairman,while Comrade Osijo Patrick emerged Auditor having scored 445 votes to defeat his opponents.
The newly elected  chairman, in his acceptance speech commended the resilience of Ogun state workers for believing in his mandate, calling on members to join hands with him by providing lofty ideas that will further move the union forward.
Penpushing also reports that Ademola assured Ogun State Government of adequate synergy that will improve the relationship between the state workforce and the government,stressing that  he would interface with the government regularly for meaningful progression of workers welfare.
The chairman expressed appreciation to the National President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alhaji Akeem Ambali for providing the needed support to meet the demands of the members.
“Well, I’ve said it, it is perfect synergy, regular interface, regular meetings with the government and education that can improve the relationship between the labour union and the state government”, he emphasized.
“Education, because we need to educate some hierarchy of government to see why civil servants must be taking serious as a gem, as the propeller of the government. So, they must give us that credence, they must respect us and give what is due to workers, once that is done, I want to assure you, no government will have any cause to regret relating with labour workers in the state”
