Ogun state house of assembly holds stakeholders’ fora on Local government amendment, traditional council laws

The State House of Assembly will on Wednesday hold a stakeholders’ forum on “H.B.  number 058/OG/ 2020- the Local Government (amendment) law, 2020- a bill for a law to amend the local government law of Ogun State, 2006.

Penpushing reports that,the Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Services, ‘Deji Adeyemo in a statement on Tuesday,said this was in line with commitment of the lawmakers to repositioning the Local Government Councils in  the State for better performance,

The statement added that, in same vein the House will on Wednesday July 14  hold another shareholders’ forum on “H.B. number  069/ OG/ 2021- Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council law of Ogun State, 2021- a bill for a law to provide for an approved method for the selection, appointment and recognition of Obas, Chiefs and Traditional  Council in Ogun State and for purposes incidental and supplementary to them”.

Penpushing further reports that, Adeyemo, further explained  that the stakeholders’ forum on the local government (amendment) law was meant to harness input and contributions of all relevant stakeholders in the local government administration on how best to administer and reposition the councils for better performance.

The release added that the stakeholders’ forum on traditional council law would help offer input on how to redefine the traditional institution to reflect the current realities, adding that the public hearing would take place on the aforementioned dates respectively at the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta at 10:00am prompt, while all the stakeholders are enjoined to be seated by 9.30 am.
