Ogun state health commissioner calls for effective patronage of Primary Health Centers for free medicare

The Ogun State Government has called on residents, especially the vulnerable to take advantage of the free health services provided in all primary health centers across the state.

Penpushing reports that Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, made the call while supervising the ongoing registration of vulnerables under the Basic Health Insurance Provision Fund in Emulu Village, Orile-Itesi, within Odeda Local Government Area of the State.

The Media officer of the Health Ministry ,Femi Onasanya in a statement said  Government had in the last few weeks commenced the registration of 1,000 vulnerables in each of the 20 local government areas of the state into the Basic Health Provision Fund.

Penpushing further reports that, statement added that, Coker noted that the basic package of the scheme include antenatal care for the pregnant women and postnatal care up to six weeks with overall treatment to children up to the age of 5 while the aged would have access to treatment for headache, common malaria, blood pressure, diabetes, Tuberculosis and other basic medical conditions.

The Commissioner while lamenting low patronage of the Primary Health Centers in different locations of the state said that such attitude would have negative effect on the purpose of the free health services for the vulnerable.

Penpushing also reports that, she said the investment of the present administration in upgrading the health centers should not be left unutilized, pointing out that all efforts put in place were geared towards making healthcare accessible to all within a short a distance.

The commissioner assured that the health of residents remains a priority of the Governor Dapo Abiodun led government.

Penpushing reports that, the Olu of Itesi, Oba Olayinka Adeniyi, appreciating the present administration for its huge investment in the health sector, affirmed that his subjects will not take government efforts for granted.
