Ogun state head of service, Kehinde Onasanya leads government delegation to commiserate with family of late Oba Ogunleye
The Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya on Monday led government delegate to the palace of late Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade Akinale in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland located in Ewekoro local government area of the state to commiserate with the family.
Penpushing reports that Onasanya in company of officials which include Waheed Adesina (Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Strategy), Dr Rotimi Akinlesi(Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs)arrived deceased palace at Akinale at about 11.15am
The others on the entourage are Mrs Arinola Adetayo (Permanent Secretary Pension Board), Lateef Benson (Permanent Secretary Special Duties) and Olusegun Osiyalu(Permanent Secretary Local Government Pension) and Seyi Oladimeji (Director of Information) who were received by the widow Adenike Ogunleye and other members of the family.
Penpushing further reports that the number one civil servant while commiserating with the bereaved family explained that the condolence visit was on the directive of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and equally presented a letter of condolence on behalf of the Governor.
The Head of Service in the letter written and signed by the Governor dated stated that he received the news of the passing of the monarch which occurred on Wednesday June 19, 2024 at the age of 79, as shocking.
‘On behalf of my family, the Government and the good people of Ogun, I convey our sincere condolence to the entire royal family, Chiefs and people of Akinale on the transition to glory of your beloved monarch’, the letter reads.
‘Oba (Dr) Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye was a man of outstanding accomplishments with manifest impacts, which are not limited to Akinale, but the entire state at large. He lived and eventful life with immense contributions to the polity and development of Ogun State. He was a renowned journalist, whose contributions in the field of journalism in Nigeria was immeasurable. A lawyer of repute with specialization in conflict mediation and peace resolution’, the Governor wrote
‘’Kabiyesi was a worthy Ambassador of a proud family lineage and a symbol of polished civilization of the Akinale people. No doubt, his passage has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. Akinale town has lost the custodian of its rich culture and tradition. Kabiyesi departed at a time his companionship, love, wise counsel and leadership are most required. He will be greatly missed by all and sundry’, Abiodun stated
‘However, it is gratifying to note that Kabiyesi left behind proud legacy and fond memories that his name, even in death, will always evoke. In this, we all should find solace and give gratitude to Almighty God. It is my prayer that the Almighty God will give the family and the people of Akinale the strength and fortitude to bear the irreversible loss. May He also grant the departed soul eternal rest. Once again, please accepts our heartfelt condolences and the assurances of my highest regards, as always’, Abiodun emphasized
Penpushing also reports that the widow responding on behalf of the family expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Government and Governor Dapo Abiodun on the visit, with a call that the family should be remember in prayers.
