Ogun state government’s denial of my appearance on state- owned media propelled me to establish radio station, says Obadara
The Proprietor of Sweet F.M radio station, Senator Gbenga Obadara has disclosed his reason for the establishment of the station, saying that he took the decision after the Ogun State Government denied him opportunity to appear on state -owned media towards his re-election in 2015.
Penpushing reports that, Obadara made the disclosure at the 5th anniversary lecture of the radio station held at Conference Hotels, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, adding that the incident which was a challenge turned out a success story for him.
‘Let me take you back to memory lane and let us all know the birth of this radio station that we are celebrating today. In the run up to the 2015 general election, I was to appear on a state own station towards my re-election. Having paid the fee required, to my surprise, I was stopped from going on the station and when I asked, they said power from above’, he recalled
Penpushing further reports that, Obadara explained that following the ugly development, he had to report the issue to the then Director General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), who counseled him and asked him to apply for a radio licence.
‘’I had to report the issue to the then NBC Director General who in his counsel asked me to apply for a radio licence .I did just as he told me and the rest is now history. Let me say it here that my goal of establishing Sweet FM is not to set up a political radio’, Obadara said.
Penpushing also reports that, the radio owner added that his goal is to help develop the entrepreneurship skills of the people of Nigeria and provide jobs to the teeming youth of the country, stressing that his desire was to contribute his quota in addressing the issue of unemployment.
‘My desire to contribute my little quota in addressing the issue of unemployment among our country’s army of young men and women fuel the drive for Sweet FM and I thank God that effort has no doubt impacted positively on our national development’, he said
