Ogun state government to build N2billion ultra-modern auditorium, roads, at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic

The Ogun State Government has disclosed plan to spend N2 billion on intervention projects, which include ultra-modern auditorium, roads at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known on Tuesday at the 15th combined Convocation Ceremony of the institution held at its Ojere campus in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The Governor highlighting some of the intervention projects, as a 500-seater ultramodern hall, construction of the road leading to the institution’s auditorium, construction of a building for the Department of Accountancy, construction and equipping of a new library, and a new bus to commemorate the 15th convocation ceremony
Penpushing further reports that Abiodun, said he was impressed with the institution’s achievements since its inception, and equally announced a cash gift of N2.5 million for each of the best graduating students from the 2015 to 2024.
“We will be building a 500-seater ultramodern lecture theatre. We will be constructing the road leading to the auditorium of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY). We will also be constructing a building for the Department of Accountancy’, he emphasised.
“We will be constructing the new SBMS block and equipping a modern library as well. This total intervention amounts to about N2 billion, so we will invest about N2 billion worth of interventions in this institution’, Abiodun added.
“In our usual manner, we will be celebrating the best graduating students over the years. That means that we have a list of the best graduating students from 2016 onwards’, the governor stated.
Penpushing also reports that he pointed out that the institution, has produced thousands of graduates who have contributed to the development and growth of the state, country, and wherever they find themselves.
The Governor explained that the decision to bring back the defunct Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, which was turned into Ogun State Polytechnic and moved to Ipokia, is yielding results, just as the ecosystem of the school, which was in a comatose state, has been revived.
Penpushing reports that he described the convocation as a milestone for the students, noting that education produces better individuals who would be a blessing to society, and urged them to be innovative and resilient in the face of challenges, as they had been equipped to be change-makers.
The Governor said his administration acknowledged the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, considering technology education as a means of tackling unemployment.
Penpushing further reports that he congratulated the parents and guardians for their steadfastness in supporting their children’s education, stressing that their sacrifices had been rewarded with the graduation of their children and wards.
The names of the best graduating students are: Sunday Augustine Chibuzor, best graduating student from the Civil Engineering department(structural), 2016; Ogunjimi Titilope Olalekan, Civil Engineering, 2017; Owolabi Joseph Okiwatobiloba, Statistics, 2018; Adewusi Esther Kemi, Food Technology, 2019.
Penpushing also reports that others are Adeoye Folashade Elizabeth, Microbiology and Biology, 2020; Azeez Kadijat Oliwaseun, Microbiology and Biology, 2021; Ajibola Adeniyi Monday, Civil Engineering, 2022; Orisawaye Samuel Emmanuel, Civil Engineering, 2023; and Akindele Damilare Micheal, Civil Engineering, 2024.

Penpushing reports that Chairman of the Governing Council of the polytecnich, Emeritus Professor Kamarudeen Balogun, in his remarks stated that the school had made progress in academics and other endeavours, appreciating the governor for supporting the council to achieve its objectives.
The Rector of the institution Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, earlier in his speech said that the management under his leadership had embarked on infrastructural development in the area of academic growth, access to quality education, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff participation in skills and capacity development.
Penpushing further reports that Jolaoso boasted that the management had provided a stable calendar for the timely processing and release of students’ results and also resuscitated the polytechnic Campus Radio for education, entertainment and information
“We have a stable academic calendar, we will ensure compliance with adequate, well-accessible, processing of our timely release of results. MAPOLY today, we have resuscitated and it’s up and life, the running of the MAPOLY Campus Radio for both the teaching, learning, educating, informing and entertaining’, he emphasised.
‘The management under my leadership has been to restore confidence and embark on academy standards, we are on this, tread so softly and diligently, to be focused and influence-focused leadership with a clear sense of direction and commitment of one and all’, Jolaoso added
“We have so far achieved a number of good things in infrastructural development, in academic growth, staff access to quality education, we have also enjoined all of us in the participation to ensure skills development, capacity improvement and of course, welfare of the staff and the students”, the rector added.
